There’s no denying that video games keep us from getting outside more often, but there is evidence mounting that the benefits of playing go well beyond entertainment. Studies continue to prove that some video games actually encourage logical thinking.

The days of believing that video games prevent people from broadening their horizons are long gone. So many games on the market are physically and mentally challenging requiring players to really think on their feet, develop strategies, build communities and virtual worlds.

Whether you’re into job simulators or virtual reality, fitness, SIMS, history, brain games or just a distraction from everyday life, there is something for everybody.

In one study, adults who played for more than 3 hours per week tended to make 32% fewer errors on the job compared to their non-playing co-workers. Research has even shown that people suffering from learning disorders such as dyslexia have seen improvements in their reading comprehension following videogame sessions due to players being required to use intense focus.
